Amy R. Chipping is a book illustrator specializing in visuals for children. Basically, her major disciplines fall under traditional and children illustration.

The artist is located near London, United Kingdom. There, this artist engages in her job as a freelancer for several different kinds of customers.

Amy utilizes copic markers in her work and combines this with detailed pen work. She is greatly passionate about creating illustrations combining the traditional and contemporary techniques.

The Golden Age of Illustration plays a big role in inspiring Amy in pursuing a career in illustration. The Golden Age of Illustration was a period known for unparalleled excellence in book and magazine illustration that has never been seen before. It was during this time when a big demand for new graphic art was made by the public, and with the help of advances in technology, accurate and low-cost reproduction of art was made possible.

In the continent of Europe, the Golden Age period was greatly influenced by design-oriented movements of the Arts and Crafts Movement, Art Novuveau, Les Nabis, and by the Pre-Raphaelites. The leading names of artists that surfaced in this era were of Walter Crane, Edmund Dulac, Arthur Rackham, Aubrey Beardsley and Kay Nielsen.

When it comes to the American illustration, the Golden Age ended up being guided by Howard Pyle and also carried on by his college students N.C. Wyeth Maxfield Parrish, Edwin Austin Abbey and Frank Schoonover.

The actual changes as well as advancements within this time period where graphic artwork as well as drawings are concerned greatly impacted upon Amy’s take on the actual art and it reflects on precisely how Amy performs her works.

Currently, Amy Chipping actively seeks clients to work with to get added knowledge in her industry, her concepts and further enrich her own expertise in carrying out illustrations. She shares her own designs throughout several websites and is also very much available for communication.

If you are really interested in Amy’s work then check out her childrens illustration work, or you can browse the PNWorldwide site, it also showsases more amazing illustration work.

On Taiwan's east coast is Hualien, a small but beautiful city. The city is a common jumping off point for a visit to Taroko National Park, within which you'll find Taroko Gorge, a canyon of jagged cliffs 19km in length.

On Taiwan’s east coast is Hualien, a small but beautiful city. The city is a common jumping off point for a visit to Taroko National Park, within which you’ll find Taroko Gorge, a canyon of jagged cliffs 19km in length.

The founding of Taroko, Taiwan was in the 30s while Taiwan was part of the Japanese Empire. From Taiwan’s capital, it’s possible to catch one train all the way to Hualien in just two hours. Having a seat on the left side of the train will reward you with stunning views of the ocean as the train travels along the coastline for most of its trip.

With the Portuguese name, Ilha Formosa, beautiful island, Taiwan doesn’t disappoint, and Taroko Gorge is no exception. There is plenty of scope for exploration in the area of the canyon along hiking trails, many of which are marked as closed, but still get visits from backpackers. Fog often descends over the canyon and covers the gorge, creating a wonderful effect. If you are interested in wildlife, Taroko Gorge is a good place to indulge that interest, as it is home to several varieties of fauna, including several species of boar.

Of the three choices of how to get to Taroko, Taiwan, taking a tour bus from outside the railway station is probably the easiest. However, this doesn’t allow for so much freedom, and the tours are often given in Mandarin.

The option granting the most freedom is to rent a scooter to get to Taroko Gorge. Being only twenty minutes by road from Hualien, taking a scooter there is easily doable, but getting a scooter in the first place may prove difficult, though not impossible, if you’re not in possession of a Taiwanese operating license.

Finally, finding a taxi is not difficult at all. There are several drivers who speak English and are more than welcome to take you to stunning lookout points along the coast as well as Taroko Gorge itself. A full eight-hour day with a personal chauffeur will run to around US$20.

Taroko Gorge National Park is the main reason to visit Hualien, a city on Taiwan’s eastern side. Spanish prospectors knew of its golden bounty before it became one of Taiwan’s top tourism spots, but you certainly don’t go there for a history lesson. The town, only 150 years old, is the gateway for stunning Taroko Gorge where you’ll find 19km of river lying below forested slopes.

From Taipei to Hualien is about two hours by train. The left side of the carriage should allow you good views of the coastline throughout most of the journey. It’s well worth the extra work to get a place there: the island’s name — Formosa — means “Beautiful Island”. When you reach Taroko Gorge, you’ll find it also reflects that name: wildlife flourish in the verdant national park. You will be sure to find your own little spot amongst the walking paths, with great lookouts showing you the rushing river below green cliffs.

There are several budget hotels and hostels in Hualien, which allow easy access to Taroko Gorge. There are no hotels within the national park itself. There are many mid-range Hualien hotels which have good prices and, even during the weekend, they don’t fill up too quickly.

From Hualien to the Taroko Gorge, you have three options:

1. A chartered tour. There are many different companies offering tours, but none in English. Your guide will probably speak Mandarin.

2. Use a scooter. It will take around 1/3 of an hour to make the journey. Have an international, or preferably a Taiwan driving licence.

3. Rent a taxi. You can shuttle between Taroko gorge and Hualien easily by taxi. Negotiate a deal to have your driver act as a tour guide and you’ll be able to investigate some narrow roads that bus tours certainly can’t navigate!
