The Maldives is a very popular place for honeymooners. For this reason, many resorts are typically booked year round so be sure to reserve early. The climate is temperate and stays quite tropical so you can travel there even during the winter months and still be quite comfortable.

Keep in mind, the Maldives is very expensive as a vacation destination. It’s really for guests that want a luxurious tropical island vacation. A honeymoon in the Maldives is very popular; however most newlyweds save up a long time in order to afford their honeymoons.

The Maldives has some of the best and most exotic honeymoon resorts in the world. Here’s a limited sampling, keep in mind there are many more to choose from:

- Soneva Gili Resort and Spa – Vakarufalhi Island Resort – Vilu Reef Beach and Spa Resort – Mirihi Island Resort – Banyan Tree Maldives – Vabbinfaru – Four Seasons Resort Maldives – Laguna Maldives – Olhuveli Beach and Spa Resort

Whichever resort you choose, you’ll no doubt experience 5-star service. Most people don’t want to leave after their honeymoon comes to an end.

The Maldives is a very secluded place for honeymooners. The fact is there are no cars on the islands making it very peaceful. There is nothing more beautiful than a sunset boat trip; cruising over crystal clear water surrounded by colorful tropical fish and coral under your feet.

Consider another type of accomodation ideal for a honeymoon, a private over-water bungalow. These bungalows offer complete privacy, your own white sand beach, and lagoon under foot.

Consider visiting these two places while on your honeymoon:

Male – Male is the capital city and it is the most commercialized and populated of all the islands. It’s one of the very few places you can visit stores and restaurants outside of your resort.

Makunudu Island – Makunudu Island is infamous for its gold sand beaches and walk ways lined by palm trees. You’ll feel like you’re one with nature here in a most romantic setting. The Maldives as a back drop, it’s the perfect setting for the most romantic honeymoon ever.

Maldives honeymoons are very romantic.

The Maldives is a nation consisting of over a 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. It’s an exotic snorkeling and scuba diving paradise and one that’s popular year round due to its temperate weather. The Maldives averages about thirty degrees Celsius all year or 86 degrees F.

The Maldives is an awesome snorkeling and scuba diving environ teeming with colorful schools of fish of all varieties. There are black and white snappers, humpback snappers, barracuda, unicornfish, yellowback fusiliers, trevally jacks and countless others.

Snorkeling and scuba diving in the Maldives is unparalleled the world over. The large variety and number of fish that exist here is awe inspiring. Scuba divers and snorkelers will never be bored, not for a moment, nor will anyone ever experience the exact dive experience twice! There are just too many things to see to discover on any one dive; you really need to consider going on several dives to get an appreciation of the awe inspiring life residing in these waters.

Seasoned snorkelers and scuba divers suggest traveling to the Maldives when water visibility is at its peak; between January and March. Other times of the year, water visibility can be murky. Dive novices charter boats in Male, the capital city. However, experienced divers preferring remote locations can charter boats to take them to the outer reaches where its less inhabited.

Your Maldives resort can make recommendations and advise you on ideal diving and snorkeling locales. You’ll have access to only a small number of dive and snorkeling locations if you stay around your resort. To avail yourself to varied dive locations, consider making reservations on a liveaboard. A liveaboard is a boat designed for people who want to live onboard a dive boat that travels to various places specifically for scuba diving.

Liveaboards are able to access locations few people ever see like Baa Atoll; an amazing dive and snorkeling spot. Nearby Baa Atoll are deserted islands that are undeveloped and unspoiled. This is indeed a scuba divers paradise where beautiful diving can be done.

Some other less traveled places include Ari and Felidhu Atolls. You’ll find sharks and manta rays living side by side. Keep in mind, most remote diving locales require intermediate to advanced experience and they are reserved for the person seeking the ultimate thrill!

Ari Atoll measures 80 kilometers in length. It’s one of the biggest atolls in the Maldives. Its known for its well developed tourist area; however it does possess a really awesome scuba diving and snorkeling environ that should not be missed. Northern Ari Atoll is home to the whale shark. The best way to experience these creatures is by scuba diving.

I’ve mentioned just a few places available to scuba divers and snorkelers visiting the Maldives. Scuba diving and snorkeling in the Maldives can be a truly unforgettable experience. If you’re an accomplished snorkeler, the next time try scuba Maldives style! Once you’ve scuba dived or snorkeled in the Maldives, you’ll want to come back year after year.

Planning a holiday to the Maldives and want additional information on Maldives snorkeling or scuba Maldives style?
Many travelers seeking a 5-star luxury getaway book a vacation in the Maldives. It has to be one of the world's best tropical island destinations.

Many travelers seeking a 5-star luxury getaway book a vacation in the Maldives. It has to be one of the world’s best tropical island destinations. It is an island paradise while being the home to some of the best resorts in the world. Maldives vacations are indeed very special.

The Maldives are located near the equator in the Indian Ocean just south of Sri Lanka. It’s an island nation consisting of over one thousand coral islands occupying 1% of its 90,000 km2 territory. The resident population lives on 185 islands. Many of the remaining islands are deserted and they are used for tourism and agriculture.

Tourism accounts for 28% of the country’s GDP. Over 90% of the government’s tax revenues are derived from either import duties or tourism-related taxes. Tourism has become the primary driver for the economy.

The number of resorts has increased from 2 to over 100 between 1972 and the present. As of 2007, over 8.4 million tourists have visited the Maldives.

The first tourist resorts were opened in 1972 and included the Bandos Island Resort and the Kurumba Village Resort.

On secluded Vabbinfaru Island, you’ll find the five-star Banyan Tree Resort. This resort is most known for its luxurious Maldives bungalow-style rooms. The subgenus of tropical figs commonly referred to as the banyan tree is what the resort is named after.

On the northern reef called Lhaviyano Atoll is where the Kuredu Island Resort Maldives is located. The island has pristine white sand beaches making up more than 3 kilometers of the island. This island paradise is complete with thatched villas and bungalows, crystal blue water and incredible views.

Maldives snorkeling and scuba diving is unparalleled and it offers some of the world’s best diving locales. Snorkeling and diving can be done all year because the weather is very temperate. The Maldives average 30 degrees Celsius or 86 degrees Fahrenheit year round.

The Maldives is a popular place for honeymooners. For this reason, resorts are often reserved in advance so it’s best to make your reservations early regardless of what time of year you’re planning to travel. Due to its tropical climate, the Maldives never really gets cold so you can travel there comfortably in the winter months and still enjoy it.

Keep in mind, the Maldives is a very expensive place to visit. It’s really a reserved for tourists seeking a luxury vacation. Honeymoon in Maldives islands is popular; however average people typically save for years in order to splurge on themselves.

Formed above peaks emerging from the depths of the ocean, upon layers of coral debris and living coral, and remnants of other marine life, these tropical islands are found forming the pearls of Indian ocean. Coconut palms tower above dense shrubs and hardy plants protect the shores from erosion and reefs guard as a barrier against the sea forming lagoons. Smaller islands and sandbanks under formation are also able to be perceived underwater.

The look and feel of Bandos is a natural balance between casual and formal, with thatched roofs but fine tiled floors, for example. Some of the rooms in the standard and junior class have an interconnecting door for families split between several rooms.

There are a nice range of restaurants here that serve a range of quality dishes. The main bar and coffee shop are near the water, and the bar is a great place to hang out until the early hours of the morning.

The resort has made a lot of effort to look after and cater for visiting families, providing a purpose-built childcare facility with female staff on hand to look after the children and also provide babysitting in the evenings. So even with the kids along you can still enjoy a romantic break.

There are 84 standard rooms which look out over the beach and another’ that are slightly set back. In addition there are 48 Junior suites and 48 circular-shaped Beach villas.

You can expect a special event if you plan to get married on Bandos, the ceremony is held on the beach of one of the uninhabited islands in the atoll ? Kuda Bandos ? and is followed by a private cruise for the newlyweds on a Dhoni (Maldivian boat).

Thanks to the central location in the southern part of North Mal’ Atoll, Bandos dive center can offer you a variety of over 40 different dive sites which include all the well known highlights in the area such as the Banana Reef, Barracuda Giri, Victory Wreck, Paradise Rock, Rainbow Giri, Lion’s Head, Old Shark Point, and of course seasonal Manta Points like Lankan Reef and Furana North from September to December or Boduhithi Thila and Rasfaree from January to April.

Dive Bandos has a fleet of up to 4 modern, spacious fibre glass dhonis, all equipped with life vests, first aid equipment, DAN Oxygen Kits and radio to enable communication with the Dive Centre and the island. The experienced and well-trained boat crew are always ready to help you in any way they can. All our staff are regularly trained in emergency first aid techniques.

Andrea is a journalist and loves to write about exotic locations she has travelled to such as Bandos island and about maldives holiday packages
