When I was a kid my mother would tell me stories about what it was like living in London during the bombing raids the city suffered in world war two. She described having to rush from her house in an effort to get to the bomb shelter before the deafening explosions started to wreak their havoc on the city and its people. Three times they returned from the shelter to find their homes and everything in it gone, obliterated.

Is it possible to even grasp the enormity of having to start your life all over again from ground zero?

Glad that sort of thing does not happen anymore? Well it does!

The people living in Israel are currently enduring the modern day version of the blitz. They frequently suffer the trauma of being attacked by their enemies in neighboring countries firing rockets on the innocent civilian inhabitants. These modern day weapons are far more devastating and effective than the bombs my mother described.

This means that the warning time is far shorter so the need for shelters is great. The people in these targeted cities need to be able to get away quickly to safety which is why provision of effective shelters is an absolute priority.

Yaron Bob is one man doing something about this situation in a different and compelling way. He acquires what is left of the Kassam rockets that have exploded and uses them to create unique works of art.

There is a vibrant market for these works of art which cover a spectrum from simple key chains to hand sculptured roses. The artist donates a portion of all proceeds to help provide more bomb shelters and relief to Israeli terror victims.

Of course I am sure that Yaron would prefer there to be a shortage of raw materials for his work, but right now the enemy is providing him with a more than adequate supply.

This is making a silk purse out of a sows ear. taking a disgusting item designed to bring grief and pain, he has ignored the terror and instead created a triumph with the resulting art pieces, once again highlighting the innovation of the people of Israel.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current president of Iran, got voted in to this office in the year 2005. Though he is not a minister, he echoed the viewpoints of the previous president of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini, whom Ahmadinejad has always looked up to. For people that don’t recall the Iran hostage crisis, Khomeini, was the one which held 52 US diplomatic hostages for 444 days from November 4, 1979 to Jan 20, 1981.

In September of 2005, Ahmadinejad gave a fiery speech at the UN General Assembly concerning Iran’s nuclear program. Only four weeks later he seemed to make a comment concerning Israel. He quoted and concluded with a statement that Khomeini made about Israel ; that they deserve to be eliminated from the pages of history.

Two months later on he gave a talk, in which he denied the Holocaust, where more than 6,000,000 Jews were eliminated by the hands of the German Nazi regime, had ever taken place. He said the Jews had invented the Holocaust as a parable. He announced, It gave them power over others and religions.

Ahmadinejad is accelerating Iran’s nuclear research program, and some say that Iran is about 2 years off from building a nuclear weapon. Their weapons are all in the terrorist hands of Hamas and others now, do you really accept that they just would like to build their nuclear power capacities to support a civilian energy program?

Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and North Korea, are nations with leaders that use hate, violence, and obliteration as their guide. They are systems that we must keep our eyes on. Their wants are for harm on the trusting, and eradication to any person that doesn’t fall as agreed by what their ideals are.

Hamas and other terrorist affiliations around the world and the states like Iran and Syria that support and fuel them, are committed, not only to kill all the Jews, but also, “to kill all the infidels. ” An infidel is anybody that isn’t a Muslim. Are you a Muslim?

What’s occurring in the middle east at this time is some thing that should concern everybody. Our economy is crucial, and clearing our debt is crucial, but letting a bully just continue to trouble us and the rest of the free world, is important also. The strain between Israel and Palestine has been going on for a number of years, and will continue if we don’t stop it right now.

Failing miserably in the are of public relations, it is evident Israel needs to revamp its image. There overtly negative public image in the context of their planned construction of 1,600 new homes in a disputed territory has done them no favours. By simply portraying a greater sense of humility rather then aggressiveness; they might not have been snubbed by the world in this recent endeavor.

The age of absolute power has ended, the new zeitgeist is vanity. It consumes everything and dictates foreign affairs. The new race of perceptibility renders Israel helpless as their foreign policy is largely dictated by this conservative body. The Israeli GOP is a class of outdated Parliamentarians and a constituent of global hard liner lobbyists. They fail to realize that war lies now with the message not merely action. Their blatant despondency is a strategical weakness.

Using the U.S.A as an example of positive PR, it is evident they have vibrantly reinvented themselves despite their utter lack of change and responsibility for the Global Financial Crises. Many critics would even be so bold as to say the US has failed to reform the slightest since Bush’s presidency. Yet, with the creation of a positive image through Obama’s genius PR campaign the world can no longer exclaim that they are a stubborn impediment.

For Israel to eradicate their stubborn and outdated persona they must follow a transparent path. Firstly, they must make it clear to the world that their is hope for a solution and their are dedicated to change and compromise even if they are not. In short, they must pursue some positive discursive formation. By highlighting their charitable giving to underprivileged and economically struggling Palestinians they would instantly shed some hatred. A greater vibrancy and youth in their collective government would also discredit their image of stagnation. In short, they need to repaint their government as innovative. This path will not only improve their global image from the current stagnant persona but will also improve their power by dissembling critics.

As it is probably evident, Israel’s PR budget is extraordinarily small. This creates serious issues, as PR can be very costly. Should they just give up? No, there is one way, often forgotten in a world of Blackberries and tweets, that is the backbone of communication in the newspaper industry. The fax machine. I know what you’re going to say, “My grandpa had one of those.” Yes, he did, and he used it for a reason. Fax is reliable, hardcopy. Journalists might get thousands of emails a day, but only a few faxes. Faxing your messages makes it appear more important; it conveys and sense of urgency. Simply, the medium your message comes in differentiates from others.

Faxing journalists is admittedly hard. Newspapers don’t often publish their newsroom fax numbers, and it would take forever to find the hundreds of numbers one needs. Plus, most people don’t want to sit in front of a fax machine feeding paper and hitting send over and over.

Yet, there are services, like www.easypr.com which easily automates this process for you. Your just type in your press release or upload it as a Word or PDF, select which cities/countries you want to target and, like magic, you’ve faxed hundreds of newspapers. The newspapers will know the difference between a serious message faxed and junk email. There is nothing more serious then the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
