The Capitol building is probably the most astonishing peace of architecture in Havana. Located in the Old Town, this is a palace that I will definitely recommend you do explore during your stay in Cuba.

Only few connoisseurs of the Cuban history know that the very first Botanical Garden in Cuba in the 19 Century was located in the land today occupied by the Capitol building.

Neither is it known that the definitive construction the Capitol was many time delayed because its high cost on one hand; and to the political indecisions, on the other. Then, on March 1926, the construction of the Capitol began finally.

The imposing edifice opened its 20 feet doors to the public on Thursday May 20. Every government institution was invited to the unveiling ceremony including the President of the Republic of Cuba and other prestige politic personalities of those times.

Eugenio Raynieri Piedra a very well-known and prestigious architect at the time; led the planning and construction joined by the best professionals in the Construction Industry in Cuba. By the time this project was finished it had already taken 17 millions out of the National Budget.

To any pedestrian, the dome of the Capitol of Havana can easily draw his/her attention, fifth in the world of Renaissance style that, for its proportions and silhouettes, it remembers to San Pedro’s Basilica, in Rome. The dome is the second higher point of the city, preceded by the Monument to Mart in the Revolution Square.

Another detail that attracts is the central piazza, supported by 17 ionic columns of granite. In it, the three big brass doors that give access to the main floor and the bas-reliefs stand out due to its beauty.

The Capitol of Havana counts over seven decades since its opening in 1926. The colossal construction is regarded as the third in relevance in Latin America for its monolithic structure and certainly first in Cuba.

From the Capitol of Havana -that is not national -, the kilometer 0 of all the highways of the country begins. It was designed so that in it the two chambers of the legislative body of the Republic worked all the sessions until 1959.

It also houses the 3rd biggest statue inside a building in the world and it represents The Republic of Cuba. Angelo Zanelli an Italian artist sculpted it inspired on a famous Cuban model. It was unveiled in 1929, in the Hall of the Lost Steps (Saln de los Pasos Perdidos).

Visiting the Capitol of Havana it can only be an astounding experience. It doors, rooms and columns hide a lot of history. You must not missed the chance to see this stunning piece of architecture and archive of so many stories while on your holidays.

Before you decide to go for you Cuba holidays make sure you visit Havana Hotels in J.M. Maurette’s Website

Are you thinking about a Cuba holiday? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. The heritage of Cuba is so rich as are the monuments and palaces throughout the country. A holiday to Cuba is something you should really consider in your agenda.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Hiking: The most ambitious hiking trails are to be found in the Sierra Maestra national park, but there are also delightful rambles in the forests around the Gran Piedra and, in the west, Soroa and Viales. In the absence of detailed trail-maps, it may be best to hire a local guide.

Havana: The city, with a population of 2,180,000 the biggest in the Caribbean, mirrors all phases of the island’s turbulent story. Nowhere in Latin America will you find more handsome buildings from the Spanish colonial era. Palaces, mansions and churches are being painstakingly conserved in the old quarter.

Architecture: The elegant, even grand, colonial mansions still evident in Havana, Santiago do Cuba and Trinidad combine traditional elements of 1 6th- and 1 7th-century Spanish architecture and its earlier Moorish influences with the special needs of the Cuban climate. No table Moorish features are the ornately carved wooden balconies, and the inner central patio around which the residential quarters are built.

A bit of History: Christopher Columbus disembarked on October 28, 1492, somewhere between Gibara and Guardalavaca. Following threats of mutiny and an overnight rain- storm, he wrote with undisguised relief in his journal: “Everything I saw was so lovely that my eyes could not weary beholding such beauty”.

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. The options are immeasurable for your holidays to Cuba. Stay tune to this article directory as there will be more useful information about Cuba coming soon.

Considering Cuba Holidays? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. The heritage of Cuba is so rich as are the monuments and palaces throughout the country. A holiday to Cuba is something you should really consider in your agenda.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Pinares del Mayari: Due south of Guardalavaca, pleasant mountain chalet accommodation has been built up on the high plateau cattle pastures of Altiplanicie de Nipe, alt. 600 m (1,968 ft). Ecotourism is gradually being developed here, and it’s a perfect destination for hikes through the pine forests as a change of pace from the beaches.

Copa Rum Night Club in Havana: Replacing the legendary Palacio de Ia Salsa, the old hotel’s night club has been refurbished to capture the glittering atmosphere of the 1950s. Under the Old Nick name of the famous Copacabana, it has two floorshows, at 10 p.m. and midnight, with prices moderately expensive.

Caf Cantante night Club in Havana: There are no frills here, and the prices are more modest, but the performance of Havana’s most celebrated son and salsa groups such as Los Van Van and Charanga Habanera make this club in the basement of the national theatre a favourite nightspot for young Cubans. You may have to compete with long queues of Habaneros to get in, but it is well worth it for the high-octane ambience. Whether there is a concert or disco, people are dancing non stop.

Cayo Coco: Covering an area of 364 sq km (140 sq miles), this is the best developed of the Camaguey archipelago’s resort islands off the Atlantic coast. Causeways join it to the mainland across the Bay of Dogs, and to neighbouring Cayo Guillermo to the west and Cayo Romano to the east.

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. The options are immeasurable for your holidays to Cuba. Stay tune to this article directory as there will be more useful information about Cuba coming soon.

Cuba is such a big Island that it makes it ideal for multi centre holidays. There is so much to do and see that sometimes - depending on the itinerary - 2 weeks are not enough.

Cuba is such a big Island that it makes it ideal for multi centre holidays. There is so much to do and see that sometimes – depending on the itinerary – 2 weeks are not enough.

This amazing Caribbean destination has a lot to offer and sets apart from the rest of the islands in the area. Cuba possesses a lot of attributes that make it really unique. Its beautiful beaches on either side of the archipelago are today the main attraction for holiday seekers.

As for beaches Cuba definitively is a destination to count on. Varadero and Guardalavaca have for many years been considered the best beaches in Cuba. Since the early 90’s new beach locations have emerged in Cuba among which Cayo Largo, Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco are the most popular.

European and African influences, mixed with aboriginal and Asian ingredients, gave rise to the features that differentiate Cuba from the rest of the islands in the Caribbean. Cuba for Centuries was the centre of the Spanish metropolis in America. This explain why its architecture is so striking and its culture so rich.

Its landscapes have inspired plastic artists all around the World. The beyond belief Vinales Valley – located in Pinar del Rio province in the west of Cuba – is one of the gems of the Cuban geography that today can be admired by millions of tourists.

Havana has to be the location par excellence in Cuba. It is for sure the main source of interaction with the real Cuban culture. This vibrant city located on the north coast of Cuba towards the west end is the main point of arrival of the almost 3 million a year visitors to Cuba.

Other provinces and towns worth visiting are Trinidad and Baracoa (these two are the oldest villages in Cuba that still preserve an entirely colonial architecture). Santiago de Cuba is another important location mainly from the historic point of view. It was from Santiago de Cuba where all the uprisings, independent movements and revolutions started in Cuba.

If you are thinking of visiting Cuba the best advice is to contact a tailor made specialist with in-depth knowledge about Cuba. You will be guided through the process of deciding what is best for you taking into consideration many factors such as duration, interests and budget for your holidays.

Melia Las Dunas Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria has become the number one resort for family holidays in the biggest of the Antilles.

Melia Las Dunas Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria has become the number one resort for family holidays in the biggest of the Antilles.

This resort is huge – with over 900 rooms – is the biggest hotel in the central part of Cuba. There are 5 restaurants of which one serves buffet services and the others are a la carte restaurants. The swimming pools are large and divided into areas for adults and kids.

Cayo Santa Maria located off the north coast of Villa Clara province is reachable by air, sea or land. It is a tiny island connected to main land by a road built over the sea. The 40 minutes drive along this road is simply fantastic. With the sea in both sides of the road the traveller can admire all the different colour hues of the ocean.

There are only three hotels in this island and a few projects on their early stage. Cayo Santa Maria is still one of the least spoilt beach areas in Cuba. If you are looking for a quiet resort then Cayo Santa Maria is probably your best option.

For the Cuban Cuisine standards this hotel is definitely above the average. Managed by Sol Melia, the Spanish hotel chain the variety is always guarantee. There is plenty to choose from including sea food, Chinese dishes, Creole Cuban recipes and even a Hamburger Snack Bar.

For those travelling with kids there is plenty of entertainment available everyday by the kids swimming pool and a show for children is held every other night at the kids club. If there are toddlers in your family the kids club will look after them free of charge if you wish to spend some time on your own.

It is always recommended reading reviews of other travelers on Trip Advisor or any other trip reviewer website you prefer. You can use the information on these websites to help you make the right decision.

A tour oriented to promote the roots of the Cuban Culture and traditions has been released by one of the leading tour operators arranging tours around Cuba especially for the British market.

Old Havana Ltd trading as San Cristobal UK has planned a fantastic program full of adventure which covers what is considered by many the most interesting locations in the occidental half of Cuba.

The Jewels of Cuba Tour has been designed for the English speaking market and it accommodates an average of 10 passengers per departure. This way the information is more accessible and the tour is more personalized.

The tour commences in Havana and guests are met at arrival to Havana airport and consequently transferred to the first hotel in the itinerary. Telegrafo Hotel located in the heart of the Old Town in Havana will be the dwelling for the first 3 nights of the tour.

While staying in Havana there is something new and exiting every day. Drive in Old American cars from the 40?s and 50?s, horse and carriage tours of Havana and even a ride on a boat around the littoral cost of Havana will keep you busy day and night.

All the transfers are done by an air-conditioned mini van and guests will enjoy the same knowledgeable tour guide through out the course of the week. In some cases travel distances are long and this will be a good opportunity to learn about the history and culture.

From Havana the tour then moves on to Las Terrazas National Park and from there on to Cienfuegos, Santa Clara and Trinidad. It really covers the best of Cuba in an action packed itinerary full of adventure.

The fact that the tour only lasts one week makes it ideal for those wanting to extend their holidays in Cuba with some well deserved break on an all inclusive beach resort. This way you can relax and pamper your self after a week of real adventure.

Lunch at the local restaurant Cafe Taberna followed by panoramic modern Havana sightseeing by classical cars (50’s American style) terminating at your hotel. In the Evening assistance to Canon Blast Ceremony at the Fort.

DAY 3: Early in the morning you will be transferred to Las Terrazas complex and you will be staying at La Moka hotel for the next 3 nights on bed and breakfast basis. Your first afternoon in this resort will be at leisure so you can explore the magnificent nature surrounding the complex.

DAY 4 : You will have a guided tour in this complex visiting coffee plantations, rivers, waterfalls and from the place you will have lunch you will be able to appreciate one of the most fantastic views Cuba Has to offer.

DAY 5: On day 5 you will depart early in the morning to Cayo Levisa( a small paradise island off the north coast of Pinar del Rio Province).

Thinking of Cuba Holidays? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. Their cultural heritage is colourful, as are the monuments of their often tumultuous, always fascinating history. A Cuban Holiday is without a doubt one to consider.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Cayo Largo: This major beach resort 115 km (71 miles) east of the Isla de Ia Juventud is a favourite destination for SCUBA divers and bird- watchers. Cranes, pelicans, flamingos and bee-hummingbirds abound here along the flats.

Cayo Coco boasts 21 km (13 miles) of impeccable white sandy beaches with first-class facilities for water sports. Flamingos and pelicans strut along the coast, and the interior is covered by dense forest. Casasa on the northeast coast offers excellent opportunities for deep-sea fishing.

Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Varadero and the other beach resorts rarely have more than two consecutive days of rain if they come at all. Hurricanes blow into the Caribbean from June to November-150 recorded in the 500 years after Christopher Columbus nearly lost his fleet. Since then, Cuba has installed an excellent early-warning system. The worst storms usually arrive in September and October, blowing torrential rain with winds of up to 250 km an hour (nearly 160 mph).

Cayo Romano: The biggest isle of the archipelago, 926 sq km (357 sq miles), is popular with ramblers and nature lovers looking out for wild horses and zebu (wild oxen) roaming its unspoiled interior.

There is a lot more to see, know and do in Cuba other than this few interesting places and facts. Hundreds of beautiful beach and city locations can not be put in just one article. The last advice is to keep researching so that you can enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

When you plan your Holidays to Cuba there are lots of things that you need to do before you leave. Each of these will be crucial in making sure that you have a fantastic trip and get to see the city in its best light. Here are some tips on what to do before you go.

One of the most important things that you need to do before you leave will be to make sure that you have both your passport in your possession and your Visa as well. Without both of these items you will be unable to enter into the country and therefore the entire trip will be put on hold.

You will also need to remember what sort of things you’re going to need to bring with you on the trip. It is important that you get in touch with the correct authorities to know what sort of things you are going to be allowed to take on the flight and into the country. If you fail to do this, you may find that some things are taken from the luggage at the airport or on arrival.

You also need to consider the budget for the trip and how much money you are willing to spend both on the flights, accommodation, and all of the activities that you are going to do when you are there. Getting to Cuba can be quite expensive and therefore you need to set out a budget that will have some contingency money in it in case of any sort of emergency.

Last of all your safety will be very important one of you travel. As a result of this it is a very good idea to find out about all of the different possible dangers you might face in the city and plan for these accordingly.

These are just some of the main things that you have to consider before you travel.
